Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Defence (MoD), on July 28, 2026, published the draft Meerut Cantonment Building Bye-Laws, 2026 under Section 251 of the Cantonments Act, 2006. The draft provides a comprehensive framework for construction and development within the Cantonment, including provisions relating to access, accessory buildings, additions and alterations, advertising signs, air-conditioning, amenity spaces, apartments, applicants and applications. It also defines the roles and requirements relating to competent authorities and registered architects, and lays down the regulatory framework for erection, re-erection and alteration of buildings.

The notification is presently at the draft/consultation stage. Objections and suggestions may be submitted to the Cantonment Board, Meerut within 30 days from the date on which the Gazette is made available to the public. The draft is also available at the office of the Cantonment Board and on its website. The bye-laws will become effective only upon their final publication in the Official Gazette.
