The Ministry of Steel on August 10, 2026, issued a notification regarding an amendment to Appendix-A of the DMI&SP Policy, 2025.
The following has been stated: -
•The Government has amended Appendix-A of the Domestically Manufactured Iron & Steel Products (DMI&SP) Policy, 2025, notified vide G.S.R. 904(E) dated December 17, 2025.
•For specified iron and steel products under HS Codes 7301, 7302, 7303 and 7308 to 7326, the existing requirement of “50% Domestic Value Addition” has been replaced with “Melt & Pour”.
•The revised condition requires the steel used to comply with the definition of “Melt & Pour” and the product to be entirely made within India.
•The requirements for HS Codes 7304–7307 and 8605–8607 remain at 50% Domestic Value Addition.
•All other provisions of the DMI&SP Policy, 2025, remain unchanged.
