Industry Specific ComplianceThe University Grants Commission (UGC) on August 10, 2026, notified regarding the Implementation of Joint Action Plan for TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in Higher Education Institutions.

The following has been stated:

• The UGC has requested all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to actively implement the Joint Action Plan under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan through a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach. HEIs are encouraged to enrol as Ni-kshay Mitras and motivate faculty, students, alumni and other stakeholders to support persons affected by tuberculosis. Institutions should integrate TB awareness into student engagement and community outreach programmes, including awareness camps, household sensitization and adoption of nearby villages or urban slums for TB campaigns.

• HEIs are also advised to disseminate TB prevention and awareness messages through their websites, digital platforms and social media, and encourage students and staff to participate in rallies, Nukkad Nataks, poster/wall-writing campaigns and verified social media campaigns to address TB-related myths, misinformation and stigma. They should organize lectures, seminars and awareness programmes, facilitate student registration as Ni-kshay Mitras, promote the TB Mukt Bharat App and Khushi Chatbot, and reinforce healthy lifestyle messages relating to Swachhata and Nasha Mukti, including avoidance of alcohol, smoking and tobacco, to contribute towards the goal of a TB Mukt Bharat.
