The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on August 14, 2026, announced the premature redemption price for Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2021-22 Series V, issued on August 17, 2021. As the bonds have completed five years from the date of issue, premature redemption is permitted on the interest payment date, with the next redemption date falling on August 17, 2026.
The premature redemption price has been fixed at ₹15,295 per unit of SGB. The price is based on the simple average of the closing price of 999-purity gold for the three preceding business days, i.e. August 12, 13 and 14, 2026, as published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd. (IBJA).
Accordingly, eligible holders of SGB 2021-22 Series V opting for premature redemption on August 17, 2026 will receive ₹15,295 per SGB unit, subject to the applicable redemption process.
