Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on August 14, 2026, announced that its special USD-INR Forex Swap Facility for FCNR(B) deposits, External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) and Overseas Foreign Currency Borrowings (OFCBs) has received forex inflows of USD 56.846 billion as reported by Authorised Dealer Banks up to August 13, 2026. The inflows comprise USD 52.300 billion through FCNR(B) deposits, USD 2.805 billion through OFCBs and USD 1.741 billion through ECBs.

In view of the encouraging response, the FCNR(B) deposit swap facility will be available only for deposits mobilised up to August 31, 2026. However, swaps against such FCNR(B) deposits may be availed from RBI up to September 11, 2026. This modifies the availability window for the FCNR(B) component of the facility.

The ECB and OFCB swap schemes will continue to remain open until December 31, 2026, as hitherto. The facility was originally introduced by RBI on June 8, 2026, to facilitate forex inflows through these channels.
