Labour ComplianceThe Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on August 14, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Provisional Estimates of Wholesale Price Index, Output Producer Price Index, and Trial Input Producer Price Index for The Month of July 2026, And Final Index for The Month Of May 2026.

The following has been stated namely: -

• WPI inflation eased marginally to 9.78% in July 2026, from 9.87% in June, while the overall WPI index declined slightly from 110.2 to 110.0. 

• Fuel & Power inflation fell sharply to 20.05% from 27.41%, mainly reflecting lower mineral-oil and crude petroleum prices. 

• Primary Articles inflation increased to 8.52% from 7.0%, driven by higher prices of non-food articles, minerals and food articles. 

• Manufactured Products inflation rose to 8.29% from 7.48%, indicating continued price pressures in manufacturing. 

• The WPI Food Index rose to 6.65% in July from 6.14% in June. Its weight in WPI is 24.99%. 

• Key contributors to July inflation were mineral oils, food articles, basic metals, non-food articles, food products, and chemicals. 

• Within manufacturing, particularly high inflation was recorded in chemicals (13.12%), basic metals (12.56%), electrical equipment (12.34%), and textiles (12.80%). 

• FY 2026-27 cumulative WPI inflation (April–July) was 9.47%, compared with -0.20% during the corresponding period of FY 2025-26, showing a substantial broad-based price increase. 

• Output PPI remained unchanged at 109.9 in July. Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing increased to 115.6, while Mining and Quarrying fell to 119.4 and Manufacturing declined to 108.8. 

• Trial Input PPI for manufacturing fell to 105.9 in July from 107.1 in June, suggesting some easing in manufacturers’ input-cost pressures; however, several sectors such as food products, tobacco, chemicals and electrical equipment continued to show elevated input-price indices.
