The Kerala Real Estate Regulatory Authority (KRERA) on August 11, 2026, issued a notification regarding extension of date of completion and Date of Expiry of Registration of Real Estate Projects on account of Force Majeure under Section 6 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.
The following has been stated: -
•The Kerala Real Estate Regulatory Authority has treated the prevailing West Asia conflict as a Force Majeure event under Section 6 of the RERA Act, 2016.
•Accordingly, registered real estate projects whose original, revised or previously extended completion date falls on or after February 28, 2026 will receive a further four-month extension of the completion and registration expiry dates.
•The extension will be granted automatically without individual applications or extension fees, and promoters must attach the Order with the existing Project Registration Certificate as proof.
•All other registration conditions and promoter obligations under RERA and the applicable Kerala Rules/Regulations will remain unchanged.
