The Ministry of Textiles on August 13, 2026, has finally fixed the maximum ex-factory prices for 580 gm Type-A and Type-B B-Twill Sacking Jute Bags for each month from January to December 2020, under Clause 3(6) of the Jute and Jute Textiles Control Order, 2016. The prices have been prescribed both on a per MT and per 100 bags basis, with the applicable rates varying month-wise.
The ex-factory price per 100 bags ranged from ₹4,843.00 in January 2020 to ₹5,614.46 in December 2020. For October 2020, separate rates have been specified for bags with 4% raw-jute linkage (₹5,172.19 per 100 bags) and without linkage (₹5,173.28 per 100 bags). The notification covers bags conforming to BIS Specification IS 16186:2014 (Amendment No. 1), with the prescribed size, mass and marking requirements, including BIS certification marking and the manufacturer's name.
The prices fixed under the notification are exclusive of GST, which shall be payable additionally by the purchaser. The notification also requires the bags to comply with the applicable specifications and identification/marking requirements prescribed by the BIS and the Office of the Jute Commissioner, including the requisite emblem and minimum breaking strength.
