The Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) on August 21, 2026, issued the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS).
Security Measures and Incident Response.
The following has been stated: -
•The Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) has been launched to provide production-linked fiscal incentives for mobile phone manufacturing in India and support Indian mobile brands.
•With a ₹62,500 crore budget outlay, the scheme will operate for 5 years from FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-31 and aims to enhance global competitiveness, domestic value addition, supply-chain capabilities and employment.
•It has two target segments: TS1 – mobile phone manufacturing and TS2 – support for Indian mobile phone brands.
•Under TS1, eligible manufacturers/EMS registered in India must have a minimum FY 2025-26 turnover of ₹10,000 crore, with incentives based on eligible sales exceeding prescribed moving baseline and threshold sales requirements.
