The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), on August 21, 2026, notified the Cable Television Networks (Amendment) Rules, 2026 to further amend the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994, under Sections 22(1) and 22(2) of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995.
The amendment specifically provides for the omission of sub-rule (11) of Rule 7 of the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994. The amendment rules come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
Accordingly, stakeholders governed by the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994 should update their compliance references and internal regulatory documentation to reflect the removal of Rule 7(11).
