The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on August 22, 2026, reported that forex inflows under its special USD-INR Forex Swap Facility covering FCNR(B) deposits, External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) and Overseas Foreign Currency Borrowings (OFCBs) increased to USD 72.848 billion as reported by Authorised Dealer Banks up to August 21, 2026. The inflows comprised USD 65.397 billion through FCNR(B) deposits, USD 4.860 billion through OFCBs and USD 2.591 billion through ECBs.
The facility was introduced on June 8, 2026. As previously announced, the FCNR(B) component remains open for deposits mobilised up to August 31, 2026, while swaps against such deposits may be availed with RBI up to September 11, 2026. The ECB and OFCB components will continue to remain open until December 31, 2026.
The latest data indicates a significant increase in forex mobilisation compared with the position reported on August 13, 2026, particularly through FCNR(B) deposits.
