The Tea Board, India on August 24, 2026, notified regarding the Discontinuation of the COO Facility without Sourcing Data for Darjeeling Tea.
The online issuance of Certificates of Origin (COOs) for export of Darjeeling tea through the designated portal has been operational since April 3, 2023. The portal enables producers to generate MIS reports relating to green leaf plucked, garden invoices, tea manufactured, country of export, and quantity exported. Initially, COOs could be generated against factory invoices without providing sourcing data. As the portal is now fully operational and stable, it has been decided that, with effect from September 17, 2026, the facility to generate COOs with factory invoices without sourcing data will be discontinued. Accordingly, all future COOs shall contain the requisite sourcing data.
