The Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX) on August 28, 2026, issued a circular regarding an amendment in the existing “Policy on Evaluation of Client Claims against the Defaulter/ Expelled Member”.
The following has been stated: -
•MCX has amended its Policy on Evaluation of Client Claims to specify eligibility criteria for claims against defaulter members, including claims for unpaid margins, credit balances and commodity/funds due on settlement.
•Claims must generally relate to Exchange-platform transactions and be filed by registered clients/investors, subject to verification and prescribed compensation limits.
•Claims may be filed within three years after the specified claim period, where the delay was beyond the claimant’s control, and the defaulter’s funds are inadequate.
•Claims arising from unregistered portfolio management services, speculative transactions, unauthorised schemes or assured returns have been expressly excluded.
