The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) on August 27, 2026, notified the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Seventh Amendment) Order, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The Order amends Schedule VI to permit import of specified timber/wood from Bhutan, subject to phytosanitary safeguards.
•New entries include Alnus nepalensis, Lagerstroemia parviflora, Acacia catechu (Khari), and Acrocarpus fraxinifolius as permitted plant material.
•Imports must undergo methyl bromide fumigation (48 g/m³ for 24 hours at 21°C or above), or prescribed heat treatment/equivalent treatment approved by the Plant Protection Adviser.
•The prescribed treatment must be endorsed on the Phytosanitary Certificate issued in the country of origin/re-export.
It shall come into force on August 27, 2026.
