class="MsoNormal">The Food & Drugs Control Administration, Govt. of Gujarat on August 24, 2026, notified regarding the Ban on Gutka and Pan Masala Containing Tobacco/Nicotine.
The Government has prohibited the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of Gutka and Pan Masala, by whatever name known, containing tobacco or nicotine, including products marketed separately for consumption as Gutka or Pan Masala. The prohibition has been imposed throughout Gujarat for one year from September 13, 2026, citing the serious carcinogenic and co-carcinogenic health risks associated with consumption of such products and their contravention of Regulation 2.3.4 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. The prohibition does not apply to 100% export-oriented units (EOUs).
