The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), through its advisory dated August 21, 2026, has advised Renewable Energy Implementing Agencies (REIAs) and State/UT Governments regarding the extension of timelines for renewable energy projects affected by disruptions arising from the West Asia situation.
The following has been stated:
The ongoing West Asia situation may be treated as “war” for the purpose of invoking Force Majeure. Where the disruptions have directly or consequentially affected renewable energy projects, the concerned authorities may consider granting extensions to the Scheduled Commissioning Date (SCD) or Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD).
Such extensions may be considered for projects whose relevant completion dates fall on or after February 28, 2026, for a period of up to four months, in accordance with applicable Force Majeure provisions and contractual procedures.
