Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG) on August 29, 2026, issued a notification regarding revised CBG pricing that supports producers without materially impacting consumers.

The following has been stated: -

•CBG procurement price has been fixed at ₹2,110/MMBtu, with ₹10/kg (≈₹215/MMBtu) Government-funded affordability support, making the effective cost about ₹1,895/MMBtu.

•This represents an effective increase of around 28% over the earlier price of ₹1,478/MMBtu, but the procurement price is not directly paid by CNG/PNG consumers.

•CBG costs will be pooled with domestically produced natural gas and spread across a gas base 2.5–3 times larger than earlier.

•Consequently, the revised framework is expected to have a negligible individual consumer price impact while ensuring sustainable returns for CBG producers.

The detailed notification is given in the document below.
