The Government of Rajasthan on August 27, 2026, issued the Rajasthan Trees (Protection) Bill, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•Rajasthan Trees (Protection) Bill, 2026 aims to prevent tree felling, promote plantation, and protect trees, including sacred groves and endangered species, in non-forest areas of Rajasthan.
•It prohibits felling or damaging specified trees without prior written permission, except for trees on residential plots/premises not exceeding 500 sq. metres.
•Revenue Officers, Patwaris, Inspectors of Land Records and Village Development Officers must report and take measures to prevent violations.
•The authorised officer may grant permission for felling after verifying ownership/occupancy and prescribed requirements, while trees posing immediate danger may be felled without prior permission.
