The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) on August 28, 2026, issued Extension in timeline for filing of Annual Returns of PWPs and PIBOs.
MoEFCC with reference to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) letter dated August 10, 2026, has extended the deadline for filing annual returns for FY 2025-26 by registered Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs) and Producers, Importers and Brand Owners (PIBOs) under the Plastic Waste Management (Second Amendment) Rules, 2023.
The revised deadlines are October 31, 2026 for PWPs and December 31, 2026 for PIBOs. The extension has been provided as a special case to facilitate filing and address difficulties while ensuring environmentally sound management of plastic packaging waste in accordance with the EPR Guidelines. CPCB has also been directed to resolve issues relating to the EPR Portal on priority during the extended period.
