The National Dental Commission (NDC) has reiterated that all dental institutions must comply with the National Dental Commission Act, 2023, and the rules, regulations and directions issued thereunder. Admissions to BDS/MDS courses in dental institutions governed by the Act must be made through NEET, and seats must be filled only through the prescribed common counselling process conducted by the designated authorities. Institutions are prohibited from making admissions independently or outside the authorised counselling process.
Dental institutions are required to ensure that admissions are restricted to their sanctioned/approved intake capacity and that no student is admitted against seats or courses for which requisite statutory permission has not been granted. Institutions must also correctly verify and upload/report the particulars of every admitted student through the NDC admission portal within the stipulated timelines.
Non-compliance may invite regulatory and penal action under the NDC Act, 2023, including warning, discharge of illegally admitted students, neutralisation of seats in the subsequent academic session, monetary penalty, reduction of intake, stoppage of admissions and recommendation for withdrawal of recognition. Principals/Deans/Heads of Dental Institutions have accordingly been directed to ensure admissions only against approved seats, through NEET-UG/NEET-MDS and the prescribed Common Counselling mechanism, and to ensure accuracy of information submitted to the NDC and other designated authorities.
