The Government of Sikkim on August 29, 2026, issued the Restriction order for the Heavy Vehicles Movement.
The authorities have restricted the movement of all heavy vehicles on the Toong–Naga Highway with immediate effect due to extensive damage caused by the ongoing monsoon, making the road unsafe for heavy-vehicle movement. Only light vehicles will be permitted, subject to road and weather conditions. Heavy vehicles shall use the Sangkalang–Shipgyer Highway as an alternative route until further orders. The restriction will remain in force until technical clearance is received from GREF authorities, with police personnel directed to ensure strict enforcement.
