The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), on August 31, 2026, issued Notification No. 72/2026-Customs (N.T.) under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962, amending Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) dated August 3, 2001.
The notification substitutes the existing tariff-value tables for specified imported goods, including palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver and areca nuts. The revised tariff values include US$1,214/MT for crude palm oil, US$1,227/MT for RBD palm oil, US$1,468/10 grams for specified gold, US$2,267/kg for specified silver and US$11,574/MT for areca nuts.
The revised tariff values shall come into force from September 1, 2026. The notification is relevant under the Customs Act, 1962, particularly Section 14 concerning valuation of imported goods.
