The Government of Madhya Pradesh on August 21, 2026, issued the Madhya Pradesh Ayurvigyan Vishwavidyalaya (Sanshodhan) Adhiniyam, 2026, to amend the Madhya Pradesh Ayurvigyan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 2011.
The following has been stated: -
•The Act amends the Madhya Pradesh Ayurvigyan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 2011 by renaming the University framework from “Ayurvigyan” to “Swasthya” and replacing “Medical Education” with “Public Health & Medical Education.”
•It replaces “Rector” with “Pro Vice-Chancellor” and “Kulpathi” with “Kulguru”, while defining the University’s jurisdiction through a specific division- and district-wise Schedule II instead of statewide coverage.
•The amendments align affiliation and regulatory provisions with national bodies including the NMC, National Dental Commission, NCH and NCISM.
•It also prescribes eligibility for appointment of the Kulguru, including being below 66 years of age and having at least 10 years of relevant experience, and designates the Registrar as member-secretary of specified committees.
