Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Heavy Industries, on September 3, 2026, has amended the Phased Manufacturing Programme (PMP) requirements applicable to e-Buses (M2/M3) under the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme.

The following has been stated:

The Ministry has further amended Sr. No. 8 relating to Traction Motors under the PMP for e-Buses, with effect from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette.

With effect from September 1, 2026, the domestic manufacturing of traction motors must include, at a minimum, the fitment of the rotor assembly, stator assembly, bearings, enclosure, connectors and cables into the motor.

Further, with effect from April 1, 2027, the domestic manufacturing requirement will be expanded to additionally include magnet fitment and shaft fitment, along with the fitment of the rotor assembly, stator assembly, bearings, enclosure, connectors and cables.

The amendment strengthens the domestic manufacturing requirements for traction motors used in e-Buses under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme.
