The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on September 04, 2026, notified the introduction of the Closing Auction Session (CAS) in the Equity Segment – Standard Operating Procedure Update.
The following has been stated:
• The Exchange has extended the existing Closing Auction Session (CAS) framework to index futures contracts, in addition to stock futures, with effect from September 7, 2026. The reference price for stock and index futures will be based on the VWAP of trades executed between 3:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.; where no trade occurs, LTP, theoretical price, or base/previous closing price will be used as applicable. From 3:15 p.m. to 3:40 p.m., futures contracts will have a ±3% price band aligned with the CAS, and the existing dynamic flexing mechanism will not apply during this period. Price bands and LPP ranges will be recalibrated sequentially from 3:15 p.m., with outstanding orders outside the revised band being cancelled.
• The changes will be available for testing in the mock trading session on September 5, 2026, while all other provisions of the March 19, 2026 CAS framework remain unchanged.
