The Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Govt. of Tripura on September 2, 2026, notified the transfer of Sand Mining Activities from the Forest Department to the Industries & Commerce Department.
It states that effective from September 01, 2026, all the matters relating to sand mining, including the processing of applications, grant/extension of permissions, approvals of mining plans, execution of mining lease/deed and other matters connected with its regulation and operations shall be dealt with by the Department of Industries and Commerce.
It further states that the Forest Department shall no longer be responsible for granting permission and approvals.
