The Sikkim State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) on September 08, 2026, notified the requirement for EPR Compliance Documents from Plastic Packaging Industries.
The Board has directed industries using plastic packaging and falling under Producers, Importers and Brand Owners (PIBOs) and Sellers, Importers and Manufacturers of Plastic Raw Materials (SIMPs), including applicable Micro and Small Enterprises, to submit their valid EPR registration certificate, annual returns filed on the CPCB EPR Portal, and proof of submission. SIMPs shall also furnish registration details and annual returns, wherever applicable. Entities for which EPR/SIMP registration is not applicable shall submit a declaration explaining non-applicability along with supporting documents. The required documents shall be submitted to the Sikkim SPCB within 15 days from the date of issue of the notice. Failure to comply within the prescribed period will be treated as non-compliance with the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, as amended, and may attract appropriate action under the applicable rules and guidelines.
