The Government of Maharashtra, on August 31, 2026, introduced the Maharashtra Maritime Board (Passenger Levy) (Amendment) Regulation, 2026, in line with the Maharashtra Maritime Development Policy-2023. The amendment provides a concession in passenger levy for specified passenger-oriented maritime and water-based tourism activities operating at non-major ports along the Maharashtra coastline.
A 75% concession on the applicable passenger levy will be available for tickets issued to passengers travelling on cruise liners, new floatels, houseboats, seaplanes, amphibian buses, fishing vessels, harbour/river cruises and floating cottages. The concession will remain available for three years from the date of issue of the notification.
The concession is specifically restricted to the listed categories and does not extend to Ro-Ro, Ro-Pax or other vessels engaged in regular passenger ferry services. In addition, Persons with Disabilities will be eligible for further concessions in passenger levy in accordance with the prevailing State Government policy.
