The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on August 05, 2026, has published the draft Varanasi Cantonment Building Bye-laws, 2026 under Section 251 of the Cantonments Act, 2006. The proposed Bye-laws are intended to supersede the earlier notification dated December 23, 1931, except in respect of actions already taken or omitted before such supersession.
The draft Bye-laws have been issued for public consultation and will be considered after expiry of 30 days from the date copies of the Gazette containing the Bye-laws are made available to the public. Interested persons may submit objections or suggestions in writing to the Cantonment Board, Varanasi, or through the specified email address within the prescribed period.
