The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) on September 01, 2026, issued revision in the classification of industries.
The Board has adopted the revised MSME industry classification notified by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, vide Notification No. S.O. 1364(E) dated March 21, 2025, replacing the earlier classification based on Notification No. S.O. 2119(E) dated June 26, 2020. The proposal approved unanimously under Agenda Item No. 09/2026 in the Board’s 283rd meeting held on July 22, 2026 supersedes the Office Order dated July 7, 2020.
Under the revised classification, investment in plant and machinery for a Micro Enterprise is up to ₹1 crore, Small Enterprise is above ₹1 crore and up to ₹10 crore, Medium Enterprise is above ₹10 crore and up to ₹50 crore, and Big (Large) Enterprise is above ₹50 crore under the previous framework. The new classification revises these limits to up to ₹2.5 crore for Micro, above ₹2.5 crore and up to ₹25 crore for Small, above ₹25 crore and up to ₹125 crore for Medium, and above ₹125 crore for Big (Large) Enterprises.
