Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Tamil Nadu on September 15, 2026, issued the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Second Amendment Act, 2026, further to amend the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987.

The following has been amended, namely:

• The amendment revises the validity and renewal of licences under Sections 8 and 8-A. A licence granted under Section 8(1) will now be valid for five years and may be renewed for successive five-year periods. The same five-year validity and renewal framework applies to licences under Section 8-A(1).

• Section 8-A is further amended to enable online grant of licences through a web portal notified by the Government. Applicants must submit the application online and pay the prescribed fee through the notified portal. The amendment also provides that existing licences granted or renewed before commencement of the amending Act will continue to remain valid for the period for which they were granted or renewed under the existing provisions.
