The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on September 23, 2026, has extended the temporary waiver for name mismatches between Flight Crew/AME licences and passports for issuance of Crew Member Certificates (CMC).
The following has been stated:
• Temporary waiver extended: The six-month waiver provided under General Advisory Circular No. 01/2026 dated March 27, 2026, has been extended for another six months to allow airlines to rectify name variations in relevant documents
• Undertaking required: Airlines must provide an undertaking confirming that the different names appearing in the application/licence and passport belong to the same individual.
• Passport name to prevail: During the waiver period, scheduled airlines operating international air services must ensure that the employee’s licence name is brought in conformity with the passport name.
• Post-waiver requirement: After expiry of the extended waiver, the name on the licence/application must strictly match the passport and will be mandatory for issuance of the CMC.
The circular is applicable to all Scheduled Airlines of India operating international air services and takes effect immediately.
