The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on September 28, 2026, notified regarding the enhancement of the EPFO Statutory Wage Ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month.
The Government has enhanced the statutory wage ceiling for mandatory coverage under the EPFO from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month, through a notification issued on September 17, 2026. The revision is expected to bring over 51 lakh additional employees earning between ₹15,000 and ₹25,000 within mandatory EPFO coverage, extending access to provident fund, EPS pension and EDLI insurance benefits. Employers are advised to ensure compliance across their establishments, including contractors and outsourcing partners, and may leverage PMVBRY incentives to support additional employment and contribution costs. EPFO has also highlighted compliance reforms including VISHWAS 2026, Employees Enrolment Campaign 2026, streamlined return filing, PF trust amnesty, digital UAN onboarding and auto-claim settlement.
