The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) on September 18, 2026, issued the Operational Guidelines for NPS Swasthya under the National Pension System (NPS), 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•NPS Swasthya enables NPS subscribers to build a retirement corpus while accessing health insurance and healthcare-related services.
•It provides flexibility for healthcare-related withdrawals and specified exit options to meet eligible medical expenses.
•The Operational Guidelines for NPS Swasthya under NPS, 2026 are issued under PFRDA’s Exit and Withdrawal Regulations, 2015.
•The Guidelines apply to registered PFRDA intermediaries, ANPI and Health Benefit Administrators (HBAs).
•Insurers/TPAs participating in the scheme remain governed by IRDAI and applicable insurance laws, with no insurance activity permitted without required authorisation.
