Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on September 08, 2026, notified regarding the Introduction of OneTag-NETC FASTag (Tag Portability) Facility under VC-4.

NPCI, in consultation with IHMCL and ecosystem stakeholders, has introduced OneTag NETC FASTag (Tag Portability), enabling customers to switch their FASTag issuer without replacing the physical FASTag affixed to the vehicle. The portability feature retains the existing Tag ID and Vehicle Registration Number (VRN), with customer authentication through a Mobile Verification Code (MVC) from the existing issuer. Toll transactions will continue seamlessly, with transactions after successful porting routed to the new issuer. Portability is subject to the vehicle having only one active FASTag, no active disputes/chargebacks, and availability of the registered mobile number. NETC FASTag members are required to complete business, operational, and technical readiness and ensure mandatory go-live by October 15, 2026.
