The Government of West Bengal, has notified an amendment to Schedule II of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act, 1980, following the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2026 (West Ben. Act XIV of 2026). The amendment increases the number of wards of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation from the existing 144 wards to 209 wards.
The notification has been issued in exercise of the powers under Section 601 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act, 1980, on the recommendation of the Corporation. It substitutes the existing Schedule II with a new Schedule II setting out the wards of the Corporation and their boundaries.
The revised Schedule II therefore provides the updated ward structure and boundaries of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation in accordance with the 209-ward configuration.
