The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), on October 1, 2026, issued a direction under Section 13 read with Section 11(1)(b)(i) and (v) of the TRAI Act, 1997, concerning the publication and accessibility of tariff offers by telecom service providers. The direction addresses consumer complaints regarding difficulty in locating TRAI-mandated vouchers on service providers’ websites and mobile applications.
TRAI observed that mandated Plan Vouchers, Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) and Combo Vouchers, including vouchers having 30-day validity and monthly-renewable validity, were in some cases not displayed prominently or were placed under different categories requiring consumers to navigate multiple pages or screens. The direction seeks to ensure that these vouchers are clearly displayed and easily accessible so that consumers can identify and subscribe to tariff offers appropriate to their requirements.
The Authority has accordingly directed all telecom service providers to provide a separate and clearly visible section/tab titled “TRAI Mandated Vouchers” for displaying the applicable mandated vouchers. The direction is issued under Section 13 of the TRAI Act, 1997 and Clause 9 of the Telecommunication Tariff Order, 1999, in continuation of TRAI’s earlier direction dated September 18, 2020.
