Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) on October 01, 2026, notified regarding the Requirement of an import permit for non-insecticidal use of insecticides.

CBIC has directed Customs formations to ensure that, pursuant to the Insecticides Third (Amendment) Rules, 2026, an Import Permit is obtained for substances covered under the Schedule to the Insecticides Act, 1968, when imported for non-insecticidal purposes. The requirement also applies to acrylonitrile. Importers shall apply to the Registration Committee in Form IA, with a prescribed ₹5,000 fee, relevant manufacturing/consumption details, and justification for the proposed quantity. 

The permit is generally valid for one year, with certain cases eligible for longer validity. A limited exemption is available for Certified Reference Materials/Reference Standards in unit packs of up to 5 grams.
