Industry Specific ComplianceThe Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) on August 24, 2026, notified the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (Grid Interactive Distributed Solar Photovoltaic (DSPV) Plants) Regulations, 2026.

The following has been stated: -

•The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission notified the KERC (Grid Interactive Distributed Solar Photovoltaic (DSPV) Plants) Regulations, 2026 under the Electricity Act, 2003, replacing the earlier rooftop-focused framework.

•The Regulations recognize DSPV installations, including facade-integrated, rooftop, and elevated solar panels, with net metering, gross metering, Virtual Net Metering, and Group Net Metering arrangements.

•They seek to address grid-security challenges arising from increased renewable-energy penetration and align with the Forum of Regulators’ Model Regulations, 2026 on distributed renewable energy.

•The Regulations apply to Distribution Licensees and eligible consumers in Karnataka.

These Regulations shall come into force from August 24, 2026.
