EHS ComplianceThe State Pollution Control Board, Sikkim on October 01, 2026, notified regarding the Registration of Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs) on the Centralised Online Portal under Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) notified the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, effective from April 1, 2026, introducing the Extended Bulk Waste Generators Responsibility (EBWGR) framework. Entities classified as Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs) include residential, commercial or industrial entities having a floor area of 20,000 sq. m. or more, water consumption of 40,000 litres per day or more, or solid waste generation of 100 kg per day or more.

All BWGs are required to register with the concerned local body through the centralised online portal and fulfil their EBWGR obligations. Urban Local Bodies are required to identify and geo-tag BWGs through annual surveys and update the list on the portal by April 1 each year. Local bodies have accordingly been directed to identify BWGs within their jurisdiction and ensure their registration on the centralised portal.
