Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on September 29, 2026, notified the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Second Amendment Regulations, 2026, further to amend the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Regulations, 2022.

The following has been stated: -

•FSSAI has amended the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Regulations, 2022, by replacing the prescribed format for certificates issued by recognised authorities of exporting countries with Form-I specified under the Regulations. 

•The Form-I certificate is required for products seeking Vegan logo endorsement and captures details of the exporter, importer, product, composition, packaging, manufacturing and expiry dates, and intended purpose. 

•The certificate also requires declarations confirming the absence of animal testing, segregation of vegan and non-vegan materials, appropriate cleaning practices, and ingredient traceability. 

•The amendment prescribes the format and certification requirements to be followed for imported vegan food products

They shall come into force on  April 01, 2027.
