The Labour Department, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh on September 11, 2026, issued the Draft Code on Wages (Arunachal Pradesh) First Amendment Rules, 2026, further to amend the Code on Wages (Arunachal Pradesh) Rules, 2022.
The following has been amended, namely:
• The amendments include new definitions of “electronically”, “family”, “geographical area” and “normal rate of wage”; revised provisions on rest days, working hours and overtime; and introduction of Rule 10-A regarding wages for employees working part-time or for less than a normal working day.
• The amendments provide for electronic/physical notices, a revised procedure for imposing fines, and empower the Board to summon witnesses and require production of documents.
• They also revise provisions relating to nomination of undisbursed wages after an employee’s death, filing and appeal of wage claims, electronic filing of returns, maintenance of employee/wage/attendance registers for five years, and composition proceedings.
• Objections and suggestions are invited by October 11, 2026.
