Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) on September 29, 2026, has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) originating in or exported from the European Union, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States of America, pursuant to an application filed by Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited. The investigation covers the period April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026, with the injury period covering 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 and the period of investigation. DGTR has found prima facie evidence of positive and above de minimis dumping margins, increased import volumes and material injury to the domestic industry, including declining prices, profits and return on capital employed.

The product under consideration is Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), classifiable under tariff item 2905 12 20, with the classification being indicative only. Interested parties, including producers, exporters, importers and users, must register on the SETU Portal and submit their questionnaire responses and other information within 37 days from transmission of the prescribed intimation letters. Comments on the scope of the product and PCN methodology are to be submitted within 15 days, concurrently with the above timeline. Confidential submissions must be accompanied by meaningful non-confidential versions, and non-cooperation may result in findings being recorded on the basis of available facts.
