The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) on October 07, 2026, issued a notification regarding an amendment to the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021 – inclusion of Screen Protectors for smartphones.
The following has been stated: -
•MeitY has amended the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021 to include Screen Protectors for smartphones at Sl. No. 66 of its Schedule.
•The applicable Indian Standard is IS 19348:2025 – Glass Screen Protector — Specification.
•The provisions of the CRO, 2021 will apply to these goods for conformity with the specified standard from April 01, 2027.
•Field formations have been advised to take note of the amendment and ensure necessary compliance and implementation.
