The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) on September 28, 2026, issued a notification regarding a sunset review of anti-subsidy investigations concerning imports of Copper Tubes and Pipes originating in or exported from Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The following has been stated: -
•M/s Ram Ratna Wires Limited and MetTube Copper India Private Limited have filed an application seeking a sunset review for continuation of countervailing duties on imports of copper tubes and pipes originating in or exported from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
•The existing CVD was imposed for five years from April 28, 2022 and is due to expire on April 27, 2027.
•The applicants have alleged that expiry of the duties may lead to continuation or recurrence of subsidisation and injury to the domestic industry.
•The product under consideration comprises copper tubes and pipes, primarily used in air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, excluding internally grooved copper tubes and related grooved tubes.
•The Authority has proposed to treat the domestically produced goods as like articles to the subject imports and has initiated the sunset review investigation.
