The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) on September 25, 2026, issued a notification regarding a Compliance Report from OMCs on GCR & SMPV (U) Rules.
The following has been stated: -
•PESO has directed IOCL, BPCL and HPCL to submit an item-wise Action Taken/Compliance Report on decisions taken at the August 27, 2026 meeting regarding the GCR and SMPV(U) Rules.
•The OMCs are required to provide updates on QR code fixing methodology, a data-backed roadmap for QR coding of existing LPG cylinders, and the commencement and contractual incorporation of QR coding for newly manufactured cylinders.
•They must also identify a bottling plant, preferably in Nagpur, for joint testing regarding the proposed reduction in cylinder degassing safety distance and submit relevant technical data.
•The report, supported by technical documents wherever required, is to be furnished to PESO within 7 days for examination and onward submission to the Ministry.
