The Ministry of AYUSH, on September 15, 2026, has notified the Drugs (Thirteenth Amendment) Rules, 2026, further amending the Drugs Rules, 1945.
The following has been stated:
The amendment has been issued under section 33N of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, after considering objections and suggestions received on the draft rules published in January 2025 and after consultation with the Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani Drugs Technical Advisory Board.
The amendment substitutes Schedule E (I) of the Drugs Rules, 1945, relating to the list of poisonous substances under the Ayurveda, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Unani systems of medicine.
The rules shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
