The Government of Gujarat, on September 10, 2026, issued the Gujarat Gram and Nagar Panchayats Taxes and Fees (Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Gujarat Gram and Nagar Panchayats Taxes and Fees Rules, 1964.
The following has been stated: -
•The Gujarat Government amended Rule 7(2) of the Gujarat Gram and Nagar Panchayats Taxes and Fees Rules, 1964, by inserting clause (j).
•The amendment provides an exemption in respect of one house owned by serving defence personnel, their spouse, ex-servicemen, or widows of martyrs, provided the house is used for their own residential purposes within Gujarat.
They shall come into force on September 10, 2026.
