The Government of Gujarat on September 05, 2026, issued the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Scheme, Gujarat, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•This scheme, framed under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, aims to guarantee 125 days of wage employment per financial year to rural households with adult members willing to perform unskilled manual labor.
•It seeks to align rural infrastructure development with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 through saturation-based planning, convergence of central and state schemes, and integration with PM Gati Shakti and GIS-based tools.
•Under the scheme, wages must be paid weekly or within fifteen days of work completion, and applicants not provided employment within fifteen days are entitled to a daily unemployment allowance.
•Planning and execution are carried out through Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans (VGPP), supported by a three-tier panchayat structure, District Program Coordinators, Program Officers, and a State Level Steering Committee.
•To ensure accountability and worker safety, the framework incorporates modern governance mechanisms such as biometric authentication, AI risk mitigation, and regular social audits alongside provisions for workplace amenities, medical care, and compensation in case of accidents.
