The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on October 12, 2026, issued press release on Zone-wise Preparedness of all 12 MCD Zones for Road Dust Mitigation and Deep Cleaning of Roads in Delhi which was reviewed by the CAQM.
CAQM reviewed the dust mitigation measures and preparedness of all 12 zones of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) following inspections that identified accumulated road dust and Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste. The review covered mechanized road sweeping, water sprinkling, road washing, deep cleaning, and the removal and scientific disposal of legacy dust, silt, garbage and C&D waste from roads, medians, footpaths and other open areas.
CAQM directed the concerned Deputy Commissioners to ensure effective utilization of cleaning machinery and sanitation manpower, regular cleaning of identified road stretches, prompt waste removal, pothole repairs, paving of unpaved areas and targeted interventions at pollution hotspots. The Commission also emphasized winter preparedness, regular field inspections, enforcement against open burning and improper waste disposal, and coordination with agencies such as PWD, DDA, DJB and Railways.
MCD and the concerned agencies have been directed to ensure the removal of accumulated dust and garbage from roads and open areas by October 31, 2026, and strictly comply with CAQM’s statutory directions. The Commission warned that continued non-compliance with prescribed dust mitigation measures may invite appropriate action, including prosecution, against responsible agencies or officials.
